Update on Silvano Maldonado-Estrada:
After receiving a phone call from Sheriff Michael August, Major Stanley contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in reference to Silvano Alexandra Maldonado-Estrada.
The agent we spoke with was out of the Charleston office and was informed that DCSO had arrested a subject that may be a illegal immigrant. We requested their agency to check into the subject’s legal status in the United States. It was revealed that the subject had a previous arrest years ago and was originally from Guatemala.
The agent stated that with no record of legal entry into the country, he would have to assume that Maldonado- Estrada has entered the country without inspection and therefore ICE was going to place a detainer on him at that time for possible deportation.
The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office will assist U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to deport any illegal immigrant, committing crimes in our county and we will honor all detainers from our federal partners.
